“I carefully chose a palette with my hand-made pigment, Rocky Mountain #6, to give the feather a rich depth with its earthy tones and soft blacks. The transitions between the dark and light areas are smooth, each brushstroke deliberately layered to enhance the gentle curves and soft spots on the feather. By allowing the watercolor to splatter and drip, I wanted to introduce a sense of gentle embrace and balance that resonates with the viewer, reminiscent of something cherished and nurturing.”
