The fall season brings so much bear activity to our neighborhood in Boulder, CO. These beautiful animals need caloreis for the long slumber ahead. I actually painted this reference photo a few years ago and love the hopeful expression. Something was calling me to paint him again. This time however, I used handmade earth pigment foraged from the Foothills of the Rocky Mountains his the bear's eye and in the bumble bee. The bee is a nod to how all things in nature are connected, including us.
This original watercolor is 24" x 20". The Saunders Waterford 140# watercolor paper is mounted on a wood panel. Finished with archival spray varnish and hand buffed with cold wax medium. Custom framed and ready to hang.
